Alcoholic Rats in India a Public Nuisance

Bootlegging in India has given rise to a strange new phenomenon: rodent alcoholism. But as rats attack illegal storehouses of whiskey throughout the nation, police are getting fed up.

See, it'd be fine if these rats were quiet drunks. But they're not. They get belligerent, and they swagger into confrontation with humans, first sign of a scotch noobe if you ask me!

Scandel-Ridden Japan Official Commits Hari-Kari

After seeing no way out of the scandal he'd enmeshed himself in, Japan's Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Minister hung himself. Apparently, soothing words about the birds and the bees weren't enough to bring him out of it. You'll be missed, Mr. Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Minister.

Orangutang EscapesCage and Moves on Food Court in Taiwan

Zookeepers in Taiwan don't seem to get the message yet: they're not feeding their animals enough.

In the wake of a gruesome attack in which a crocodile bit off the arm of a vet, the same Taiwanese zoo witnessed a fearsome Orangutan escape from his cage and headed over to the food court for some tasty dim sum.

Unlike the crocodile, however, he wasn't served.

Tigers Eat Live Cow in China Zoo Show

It's a special kind of zoo that let's its visitors bring chickens and other livestock to be torn apart, feathers drifting up toward the ceiling as the beasts sink their teeth into the live, shrieking, squealing animal victims.

This special kind of zoo can be found in China, where those running the show know that visitor-provided entertainment has its limits. That's why they kept a cow on hand, although apparently it was the last straw for Animal Rights' groups and others concerned about China's international image in light of the upcoming 2008 summer Olympics.
