WC is Shocking and Inappropriate

In a good example of tragic over-correction, Beijing's race to anglicize its public signs and iron-over existing translations which are weird and inappropriate before the 2008 Olympics, China is slashing the term "W.C.", which it has been using to signal the existence of a public restrooms. In its place, the much more acceptable term "Toilet."

Tigers Eat Live Cow in China Zoo Show

It's a special kind of zoo that let's its visitors bring chickens and other livestock to be torn apart, feathers drifting up toward the ceiling as the beasts sink their teeth into the live, shrieking, squealing animal victims.

This special kind of zoo can be found in China, where those running the show know that visitor-provided entertainment has its limits. That's why they kept a cow on hand, although apparently it was the last straw for Animal Rights' groups and others concerned about China's international image in light of the upcoming 2008 summer Olympics.
